In October, brother-in-law John Murphy and I took a little trip to visit three guys who lived with us in the same house during college at the University Of Nebraska-Lincoln.

"The B Street House" was incredibly well organized and maintained. Definitely not Animal House (which it predated anyway), although we did do our best to get into some trouble now and again.

Unfortunately Doug Dygas, who lives in Michigan, couldn't join us, but four out of five is better than we have done for years. Bob Losee came up from Lincoln and joined us all in Spencer, where Bill Wellner lives.

There are two buttes a few miles west of Spencer (near the town of Butte, oddly enough) that rise up 100 feet or so. Above is a shot of one butte as taken from the top of the taller butte. Below are pictures of John, Bob and Bill on the butte, and a neat prairie sunset. You can see about 45 miles in about all directions from here, take in the sights of three river valleys, watch mule deer dash across the open ground, or enjoy stars with virtually zero light pollution, as we did on this surprisingly warm night of an October New Moon in Nebraska.

Here's Elaine Wellner with Pookie. Somebody should shoot this bird.

Here we are in the spring of 1974 on the last day we all lived together in Lincoln, Nebraska. And in 1983 at Bill's bachelor party. And in 1987 at a rare Christmas gathering.

And here we are together in 1999. There's a glaring hole in this picture. The four of us see where Doug should be. Maybe next time.
