You are looking at a small part of a tiny portion of my office, where frisbees and assorted flying discs peek out from boxes and bags in every corner.
Other parts of the house are just as bad. So I am making the herculean effort to shoot jpegs of each and every type I own -- which I presently estimate to number about 500 -- before unceremoniously exiling the vast majority of them to the crawlspace under the family room.
I began collecting discs in the early 70's. The oldest I have are from the 50's. They are arranged here in no particular order, and it will probably be a while before I get them all on the net.
Each listing shows the disc and, sometimes, closeups or packaging. Next to the main picture, you'll find the disc's number (what I like to call the SFMAN, short for Strinz Frisbee Museum Arbitrary Number), my best guess at the disc's official name as it appears most prominently on the disc or packaging (some in all upper case, some not; dontcha love marketing and merchandising??!!!?), plus:
Over the years, I have struggled to determine appropriate boundaries for my collection. Any disc of any sort qualifies. Disc shooters (guns and etc.) aren't much of a stretch. But I have some other neat flying toys. I couldn't help including them. These marginal items receive SFMAN letters instead of numbers.
I hope this imperfect presentation will interest you until I can spiff it up a bit after I'm done digitizing images. For now, you can click here to get a minimal file (without graphics) listing what's available, then click on the appropriate link to see a particular disc. Use your BACK key to return to the list.
If you collect discs, please send an email message about yourself and your collection.
Come back periodically to see what I have added. With any luck, the whole thing will be done by the end of 1998.
